There is something comforting about IKEA being practically the same everywhere
JUPP!!
Somehow when I'm here in Europe I don't really care for IKEA that much, since there are enough furniture stores that sell contemporary and affordable furniture that I like more than the stuff from IKEA.
But somehow when I'm abroad I go crazy seeing all the European style furniture xD ^^'
Its probably because its human nature to want everything to be fair, so im guessing that your comforted knowing that you aren't missing out on a cooler ikea (besides for the food conveyor belt because that was pretty awesome)
it's kind of like no matter where you are in the world, when you go to ikea, you feel at home.
Like mcdonalds?
What I really love about IKEA is that it looks so similar whichever country you are in. I'm Swedish, and if I am abroad somewhere, and feel homesick, I just go to IKEA, walk around, and eat some meatballs. :)
+Mr Music Hahaha, smart där xD Älskar att alla grejer heter saker på svenska också :'d
***** Hey, just wondering, are Ikea meatballs considered an okay representation of Swedish food? Like it's not considered blasphemy to Swedish cuisine or something? I always wonder about it when I eat there.
+Mr Music I'm from Canada and this Japanese IKEA is extremely similar to the one's we have here. Just walking around while eating some ice cream would make me feel right at home.
***** I'm also from Sweden and while the Ikea meatballs aren't like home made meatballs, they are identical to meatballs that we can buy at the grocery store.
+GabbyDontTouchThat they're actually considered pretty good over here, mainly because of the high meat content, nothing fancy like restaurant or home made meatballs, but pretty good
Rachel : " I LIKE EVERYTHING !"
Jun : " WE DON'T *NEED* ANYTHING !"
yet you BUY so much, cuz it's IKEA
Rachel is a big modd at ikea
worldfan4ever:
She might be nesting.
this is so true.....first time i go to ikea...i buy lot of things and after pay it i realized....what have i done?
June-“So ur going to make some salad and eat more vegetables now?”
Rachel-“No”
June- drops salad maker and gives up
Lol
Galaxy_ Diamond63 Its Okay if they say his name wrong
Chaunc5y, the name reminds me of that time Rachel gave Jun a makeover
I just read this when that happen
BECAUSE JUN IS SO TALL, YOU BEEP FOR HIM IF HE MAY BUMP SOMETHING?! THAT IS TRUE LOOOOOVE! Oh my god, super cute!
It's like the newer self driving cars that make that beeping noise for you to grab the wheel when in danger
I know it's sooo adorable!!
thats so cute
I guess IKEA all around the world looks the same. Other than the food tray belt line......
thats what i was about to comment. lol
Darche 61 p
I think it is size of furniture who change ! I saw the difference betwen ikea in France and in japan, for exemple the oven ( ? le four , i don't sure i am french sorry ) , the size of the room etc ^^
And check out. Ours still use cashier
Ikr i was like "woahhhhh"
It feels strangely comforting to know that IKEA stores look exactly the same on the other side of the world.
CTStyles31 It's the one place a Swede like me can feel at home outside my own country.
Like Starbucks, pretty much. 😃
theowest Does that mean every store in Sweden looks like Ikea?
cloudkitt Not really, but since IKEA is mostly based on Swedish interior design/culture, it is difficult not to feel at home there. Not to mention the fact that most stuff are in Swedish.
if your in japan and your getring homesick....just go to ikea and it'll solve itself XD
*because June’s so tall I beep for him when he’s in danger of bumping into something*
My heart just melted
You guys prenounce the swedish words suprisengly well!
And also the japanese way of saying IKEA is closer to the original swedish version ^^
Dequilla I'm Danish and I can't pronounce it
In Poland, we pronounce IKEA just like in Japan
Yep in Sweden its like ee-kee-ya
Yeah, in Spanish we pronounce it that way too
We Malaysians pronounce IKEA the same way Japanese people do it. I guess it's just me up here immigrating to America with mild culture shock that they pronounce IKEA like it's an Apple product...
2 seconds into Ikea and you start planning your future
Stephii xoxo same hfhughju
the TRUTH
Yep, I start planning for the mansion I'm going to own with twelve living rooms, ten kitchens, twenty offices, and fifty bedrooms. Oh and I suppose a bathroom in there somewhere too.
Ahhh I love looking at the sample rooms at IKEA!!! They're always so pretty *__*
+Sharla in Japan Right!! I wish I had that room designer and also the person who dresses mannequins in my life lol
Sharla in Japan I read that in your voice 😂
I wanted that LED mirror ;--;
Same. I always see their rooms and think....how come my house doesn't look like that? I need all of this.
And the weird thing is even if you buy pretty much all the same stuff from the sample room, it never looks nearly as good at home.
You beep beep beeping when he's about to hit his head is adorable!
WEAR WALKING SHOES
Which IKEA did you go to?
Ben Uchiyama ahaha I have no idea! One in Tokyo. Chris and Ayaka led us there.
I love furniture shopping! So furniture shopping, IN JAPAN?! Someone pinch me I'm in heaven!
Rachel & Jun I feel an odd sort of proud parental sensation, watching people visit an Ikea for the first time.
NEVER GO AGAINST THE ARROWS! You could take a wrong turn and end up in Australia. (They're all connected through some kind of weird Swedish extra dimension, which is why they all look exactly the same.)
Walter Heukels So what you're saying is, cheap international travel?
NO! They use Swedish words in other countries to?! XD
*Mind blown Swede over here*
+NewDivded yea =D
all the products have Swedish names xD
HEEJ
HEEJ
+NewDivded well yeah, it's the name of the product. So it stays the same no matter what country :) I work at IKEA in the Netherlands btw >.
6:40 "Because Jun's so tall I beep for him when he's in danger of bumping into something" godness they are so cute... I want a wife like rachel ... but I'm short... so she wouldn't have to beep...
Knee/toe bumping danger?? X'D
Might not be related to the video, but I love Rachel's outfit!
Amena Martin I agree!
Amena Martin I was about to write the exact same thing!
Amena Martin Yeah I thought the stockings were cute.
Phil Nolan I'd so like those cat ones in black.
Amena Martin Yeah, she looks amazing in it.

Rachel & Jun As a swede I can tell you the japanese way of pronouncing the name is very alike the swedish pronunciation.
Lord Metroid That's very often true for katakana words for most languages! Which is why it's extra confusing when they have a word they seem to pronounce differently for no reason, haha
***** depends on where, the one in stockholm is huge, while one in a smaller town, is still large.
ahhh perfect haaarrmmonnny!!! lol!
+Rachel & Jun I heard Jun say "I wonder what this says" at the end, and I suspect he was talking about the giant "Tack så mycket" on the wall, which means thank you very much (:

Nice to hear IKEA pronounced the right way (i.e. the I as in "in" and the E similar to the "ea" in "leather", for English speakers).
so the japanese way is right? (has been my question my whole life :-l)
Yes. Actually most languages seem to get it pretty correct by default,
except for English, of course :)
Oh really? Im so happy that i pronounce it right!
Hi !
Ingvar Feodor Kamprad was born on 30 March 1926, on a small farm called Elmtaryd near the village of Agunnaryd = IKEA.
More or less, better then english at least.
Nice Swedish pronunciation Jun! *Sweden Approves*
+Douglas D The Swedish "God" is Good in Englisng :)
+Douglas D huh? i thought bra meant good in swedish....
well. they both do! If you say How was dinner? (Hur var middagen?) then you answer with It was good (Den var god)
and if you as someting like How did your test/grocure shoping go? (hur gick ,det på provet/ med shopingen?) then you say It went well (Det gick bra)
I am not that good with laguges but maby that helpted out :)
They are kind of the same word/mean the same but depending on what comes first and if its singular and plural it can change back andd forth and back agen, you can say anyone if you like, ppl will understand but it migth sound strange in some situations
God/gott also means tasty and benevolent, while bra is a more generic positive. For instance, if you saw someone take a fall you might ask "gick det bra?" where english would use "are you alright?" So good and god are basically the same word, while bra might be a little closer to well (though that might sometimes be closer to frisk, which means healthy or sometimes cool, although it's the same root as fresh, which usually translates to färsk... lots of close resemblances).
Sounds to me like Japanese people are pronouncing IKEA correctly :)
IKEA = Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd Agunnaryd
Ingvar Kamprad = name of the man behind IKEA
Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd = where he grew up
Translation of the Swedish words in this video:
*försiktig* = careful
*tokig*(I think the sallad spinner was called that) = crazy/mad
*plastis* = "plastie"
*färgrik* = colourful
*Löttorp* = the name of a Swedish town
*stoppklocka* = stopwatch
*vakna!* = wake up!
*Innfjorden* = Not sure, but I think it's a Norwegian town
*godkänna* = approve
*Alseda* = the name of a Swedish "kyrkby". Not sure if there's a name in English for this, but it's what we call a collection of small houses that were built around churches hundreds of years ago... kind of
*brakig 2014* = "breaky" 2014
*poäng* = point/score/purpose
*detolf* = I have no idea what or who this is and google didn't help me either
*faktum* = fact/circumstance/actuality
*smäcker* = sleek
*Jansjö* = the name of a Swedish village -- *Jan* = male name, *sjö* = lake
*tack så mycket* = thank you so much
-
I heard someone say salmon is kind of considered "kids food" in Japan(or maybe east Asia in general, not sure).
Is this true?
387 years later: detolf is floted backwards xD Idk what it was or even if it makes sence or if it's something they thought of but anyway xD
fan du översatte allt, jag tänkte jag skulle översätta sen såg jag din post och tänkte, fan aja jag skiter i det för du översatte ändå mer än jag ändå :D
I'm Japanese. Salmon isn't considered kids food in Japan. For instance, smoked salmon is popular with alcohol and beer. But it is true that so many Japanese kids like salmon. They often eat salmon sushi in sushi restaurant. Probably the most popular sushi for Japanese kids is salmon.
So my guess is that some Japanese people think you like childish food if you say to them "I'm crazy about salmon!”
Sorry because of my poor English😅
@@lptw3882 Your English is great!
Tack så mycket
That's the only Swedish sentence next to 'Jag talar inte svenska' I know 😂😂
So for those of you who don't know, Ikea name their products after scandinavian/northern stuff. So like, chairs and work desks have male swedish names, fabric and curtains have female swedish names. Things for the bathroom are named after rivers, lakes and harbors in scandinavia.
Most garden articles are named after swedish islands, carpets are named after danish places, diningrooms are named after finnish places. Beds, wardrobes and furniture for foyers are named after norwegian places, and childrens articles are named after adjectives, birds and mammals!
See at the end there you thought you saw them leaving...but Ikea never lets you leave, you just go back in...over and over and over. We must accept that all future videos will be filmed inside Ikea, our best wishes go out to you guys as you adapt to your new life inside ikea. We will try and send help soon, however all teams sent into ikea thus far have also been lost.
8:40.... watch, as the majestic Jun is set free...... back into its natural habitat.... wonderful, isn't it?
Rachel is mood “ I LIKE THIS AND THIS AND TH-“
Jun: “ no we dont need it”
IKEA IS LIKE A CHILD'S PLAYGROUND FOR ME
Gabby Tillmon A PLAY GROUND FOR ALL AGES
Emmy Tang I like to play house when I'm at Ikea.... I'm an adult :x
PrincessKahara its ok *we all do this XD*
same Omg I love Ikea
+Emmy Tang Yes! My family think I'm strange because I get so excited over it.
the Japanese way of pronouncing IKEA is actually closer to how it's supposed to be pronounced than the american/english way lol. Also i love how excited and enthusiastic Rachel is about everything in the store hahah
Wow I live in Russia and IKEA here is exactly like the one in the video. Even the food appears to be the same
Talk about strict brand policy.
Felik18 ага, совершенно одинаково, только меню немного другое...
Same for germany
Poland as well.
I'm from Sweden and have lived in Taiwan and China. While they still had meatballs there they served it in Taiwan with French fries, which would be an absolute no-no in Sweden. Also if I'm not mistaken they had some more local food options as well. But they're always gonna have those meatballs...!
I'm Swedish and I just wanted to tell you that the way you pronounce "Ikea" in Japan almost sounds exactly the same :D
You've gone to IKEA and bought just 3 things????? That's a near impossible thing to do.
true talent
If i go yo ikea... I would buy my entire house XD
Jun's swedish pronunciation was excellent :)
***** Hang on, I take it back lol :D
I really love Rachel’s outfit.
It’s so cute and suits her well
Yeah, I was thinking the same, lovely!
I was looking for this comment I’m obsessed
I'm Swedish and I gotta tell you folks that the Japanese are pronouncing Ikea more correctly than Americans.
Gotta love that Anchorman reference btw. "I love lamp".
+J0kuc because they are using that katakana (kanji characters) for foreign words and when you read it, it supposed to sound like how it supposed to sound in that native language (hopefully with correct pronunciation), which is a bit hard for like English words, because japanese partitioned a lot of words and don't natively have some sounding words, So yeah maybe reading katakana sounds better for swedish
Raikozy
I know.
I'm jealous of the transcribing they have there. In UK, I get so frustrated because there are some items I have literally no idea what it is and they only have the Swedish label so not only do I not know what it is, I'm probably butchering the name.
Nobody caresss, it doesn’t matter anyway because it’s an acronym
I'm from Sweden and it's so fun watching them pronounce everything :')
She BEEPS when he'd in danger!!!! HOW EFFIN CUTE IS THAT OMG 😭😭😭 THIS MADE ME CRY. I want to know the story behind why she started doing this
The only difference between your Ikea in Japan and our Ikea in The Netherlands is that you get rice with your meatballs instead of fries. Glad to know that if I'm ever homesick in Japan, I can just go to the Ikea lol
gefelice they had also mashed potatoes together with the meat balls ^^ in Germany we can chose between mashed potatoes or fries :)
and you are absolutely right XD while watching the vid I texted my boyfriend the exact same thing - If I ever get homesick in Japan when we move there for his work I will just spend my time at Ikea and my world is fine again :'D
gefelice Fries!?
The only thing you should have with them, is mashed potatos!
This fries and rice nonsense, is blasphemy!
ZarlanTheGreen They don't even sell them with mashed patatoes here, only fries! Now I'm so jealous
ZarlanTheGreen You ideally should have boiled potatoes with your swedish meatballs. That's the Swedish way.
+Eeriewolf mashed potatoes are better though
Amazing how no matter where you are, Ikea is the same everywhere!
Quality Swedish Rachel & Jun, Jun was a little better but overall I'm impressed, I'm am suprised that they have Swedish words in a japanese IKEA though.
Northern Gaijin They have them everywhere.
Northern Gaijin Came to say the same thing. The Japanese way of pronouncing Ikea is just like a Swede would pronounce it.
+Northern Gaijin Japanese phonetics are pretty similar to scandinavian ones in general. It's pretty funny I think.
+Northern Gaijin Even though I don't pronounce Swedish the "right" way, being Finnish, I was superamazed how close Jun got those :> It just looked so funny with the subbed "phonetics", made it look so darn complicated and then I realized I have studied those for years here and have no problem at all reading Swedish text :'D
It was actually a good pronunciation
Rachel beeps for Jun to warn him if he is gonna bump into something?! What the heck that's adorable
Hearing them trying to speak swedish is awesome xD
Edit: 7:27 HOLY F*** HE GOT IT RIGHT
he got it right because just below the original word its written in hiragana/katakana (dunno which one is) how to pronounce the original name and below that it's the translation, that's why Rachel is always covering it with her hand
Ikea are from SWEDEN and I am from SWEDEN så fuck you
IKEAと発音するとき、日本語の発音の方が英語より、スウェーデン語に近い。
The pronunciation of IKEA in Japanese is closer to Swedish than the English pronunciation.
We totally got that squeegee last time we were at Ikea~
Texan in Tokyo There are so many things I wanted that I'll probably never use. I'm glad we were able to restrain ourselves!
True~
Every time we've gone to Ikea, we've walked away with bags upon bags of stuff. At least their delivery option is cheap :)
I'm from sweden and the japanese pronunciation of Ikea is pretty accurate
Make me realize when you’re with ppl you love, everything just seems so fun to do
Actually, it's pronounced "ee-key-ah" pretty much everywhere in the world except the USA... we just don't get those exotic European pronunciations. LOL By the way, the name of the store was the founder's mail address in Sweden when he first founded his furniture-by-mail company: Ingvar Kamprad, Elmtarud, Algunnarud.
nairbvel We pronounce it the same as American here in Australia
0:30 you said "Försiktigt" really good!
I am from Sweden and it sounded kind of like Swedish.
Jun was carrying your purse!!! What???!!! That's awesome!
Being 6' 3" tall I love the fact that you making a beeping noise for Jun is going to hit his head. I need this in my life.
The way he pronounces IKEA is pretty much spot on. (I'm from Sweden)
i'm form israel and we pronounces ikea as the japanese do
Hej/hello
I'm going to Japan in a few days and I'm Swedish, I guess I should check out IKEA over there...? haha
Gör så ^^
Patrik Josefsson - Var det nåt annorlunda?? :D
Gick aldrig, fanns sånt som lockade betydligt mer ;)
Patrik Josefsson - förståeligt ;) IKEA finns hemma :p
船橋のIKEAかな?
IKEAは家具屋なのにホントに楽しい場所ですね。
レストランは特に外国感があって楽しい。
masaharu1198
だが一人で行っては絶対にいけない…
I can't believe you walked out of IKEA with just 3 things... :-P
I know, they could've walked out with the whole store and only been down like ¥100,000
"MIRRORS!" ahahah !
Weel Ikeas look exactly the same in France :3
Je pensais justement la même chose, je me demande simplement si les prix sont à peu près équivalents ou pas xD
So in Germany 😂
in Italy too
In Spain too OwO
mais leurs plats semblent bien plus appétissants qu'en France ! et en plus tu es servi jusqu'au bout
Rachel: "I don't want a banana soul"
Me: but you literally wouldn't leave a vending machine place until u got a banana cat hat!
As a swede, I like to listen to non-swedes pronounce swedish words. It’s actually really fun.
I'm From Sweden, and Jun almost said "Försiktig" correctly :D
Sofia Andersson Eh, no. He messed up the "ö".
I said almost :P
+Sofia Andersson Well the rest is pronounced pretty much the, as if it were English, so that's not much of an achievement. I guess I have higher standards, than you do.
+ZarlanTheGreen Jun's native language isn't English. He just happens to be a very fluent speaker of a foreign tongue. So, Japanese native speaker, conversationally fluent in English, trying to pronounce Swedish. I'd say that is pretty damn impressive, so take the stick out of your but and give the man the respect he deserves.
+ImFrelled _"Jun's native language isn't English. He just happens to be a very fluent speaker"_
...and, given that, it's not much of an achievement.
"Försiktig" was pronounced no different from how an English speaker would read it, as it were in English.
Nor, is it any different from how a somewhat skilled Japanese person (who is able to say it, without adding "u"s between consonants) would pronounce it, as it it were in English.
The "ö" is pronounced exactly like an "o".
No attempt at anything other than an "o" (to be fair, they had nothing to indicate how it _is_ supposed to be pronounced)
Sure, Jun is impressive in having learned such fluent English (given the extra hurdles, that Japanese people face), and he did make good _attempts_ at pronouncing the Swedish words (though generally getting it wrong, as one would expect), in general...
...that doesn't mean that his attempt at "försiktig" was particularly good.
A decent attempt, sure, but not a notably good one.
_"and give the man the respect he deserves"_
He deserves plenty of respect, and nowhere in this comments section, have I disrespected him, in the least.
...but I'm not going to miss-characterize things, or praise him for something that he hasn't done, or which isn't really an achievement.
6:30 Next time on Jun's Office...
Lol I was thinking the same thing :D
Building Ikea furniture together is the ultimate test for any couple
***** I love building furniture. :D If we have furniture to build I make Jun clean or cook or something so I can build it myself! ヽ(` ▽ ´)ノ
Hahaha that's a really smart idea Rachel xD
Oh and im honored to get a response btw I'm a big fan of your two :3
I am Swedish and it made my day when you tried to pronounce the Swedish words xD omg I love you two so much!!
I love IKEA because when the semester is over I scour around the garbage disposal areas of the dormitories in the college town where I live, and I always find lots of broken (and sometimes not broken) IKEA furniture that I can break down and turn into useful things like storage boxes, work benches, and shelving for my garage.
I've never been to ikea. I really want to know what it's like haha
Humaira Q This was our first time, too! :D It was a lot of fun but WAY bigger than I was expecting! We were there at least two hours haha
Rachel & Jun sometimes shopping places can be as big as theme parks and you end up spending just as much time there! That's scary. Haha. Well it's fun to look at all the stuff and imagine buying it :) glad you had a nice time :D it makes me want to visit the ikea here in England :)
Humaira Q It's a huge maze with lots of lovely things you do not need, yet still WANT. That's why there's a cafeteria halfway through. You need to eat to get through the rest of the store. It's a very long walk.
Humaira Q It's an adventure, to say the least. Also, Rachel's not kidding. Bring good walking shoes, or your feet will get blisters X(
+Humaira Q You should really go! Ikea food the best!!!!
I can confirm that people in Japan are pronouncing IKEA the right way ;)
I really enjoyed listening to you trying to pronounce Swedish words hahah ;D I actually didn't know that they kept the original swedish names for the furniture in countries outside of scandinavia! I find it funny, but it must be kinda weird for you since you don't understand (and of course seeing our weird letters å, ä & ö ;) )
Did you know that IKEA looks pretty much the same in every country? Even the cafeteria looks exactly like the one I visit frequently here in Sweden. :) Anyway, I love your videos and i find them really interesting and funny, keep up the good work! :D
Marielle Karttunen -- I think they do it for all ikeas? The ones in Texas I've been too have kept the Swedish names as well ✨
I can handle the å (thanks to Norwegian), but the umlauts are a bit harder - I can still handle them thanks to my dad having taught me a little German, but they're tricky.
I love that taking an hours-long walk around ikea complete with a whole cafeteria lunch break, planning out an entire home blueprint in your head, and then only buying like 2 small things at checkout is such an international experience
I think my favorite part is seeing how Rachel loved the plants in 2015 and now she's living in a plant paradise in 2019!! 😍 Dreams do come true!!
The Japanese are actually pronouncing it correctly. It's pronounced the same in Swedish ^^
Ikea has an awesome cafeteria, good prices too. Their French fries taste amazing, I think they freshly cut potatoes themselves, that's why it taste so good.
Viet Lee Aww I didn't try them! Next time!!
+Viet Lee I CANT BELIEVE YOU ARE HERE TOO OMG
First JKNews, then Bubz Vlogs, now here!!?!????
Viet Lee Jknews, Joe's channel, Bart's channel, ForneverWorld, now here too..das duh real mudda boolshit
CheeseMonsterHD I'm expanding my territory
This reminds me why I've never braved Ikea with children. So long. It's fun to go though.
+Trekkifulshay yeah, as a kid me and my brother were always had to stay at the kiddie playground there for a few hours and when we got older we could come along to the store :p
Trekkifulshay I LOVED going to IKEA when I was a kid, my parents would never dare to go without me or I would get mad xD
When my kids are bigger. I think I'll be brave enough. I'd love to go on my own.
The subtitles are amazing, since I'm studying french in school It's so useful to have them on for educational purposes. Plus your videos are always so fun to watch!! Both helpful and entertaining, thank you guys!! (Rachel&Jun and the person who did the subs
何度も見てしまう……レイチェルのタイツの猫ちょーーーーーー可愛い。似合う完全な最高ファンやん……2人お似合いでほんま憧れやぁ
German pronounciation: いけあ
Original Swedish pronounciation: いけや
Haha seems like IKEA is the same everywhere :D
The one in Northern Ireland looks like this too n-n
Rachel: “I love lamp.” 😂😜
Americans in tiny IKEA kitchen models: “Oh it’s so cute!”
Americans in tiny apartment kitchens: “this is way too small how can I fit an entire football team in here at once?!”
0:49 Jun hopes and dreams Falling because of one word XD
Love these couple ❤️ OTP
It's identical to the one in Belgium.
+Mikael Jack I think all Ikeas have identical layouts, because it's just like the one in Sacramento, California.
Zelfde als hier in nederland lol
Mikael Jack All Ikeas everywhere are identical to one another.
+SundayMwG Actually no, I've visited the one in Sundsvall (Sweden) - and the one in Groningen (the Netherlands). They were similar, but not identical :)
Same with the one in Australia.
You know your an adult when you go in to a ikea and have fun
Not sure if this is well known but IKEAs are designed like mazes so you will get lost and buy more stuff lol.
Ikea is swedish. So i understand the words they used for the items. Försiktig means be careful, färgrik means colorful, Hönefoss is an city in Norway, Stopparklocka is of course the alarmclock, vakna means wake up, godkänna is approve, klor means claws, Poäng means points, Måla means paint (drawing not actual paint, but you paint it with the paint) and lastly Tack så mycket means thank you so much. I took my time to look at the video and get words/sentences that are actually useful in Sweden. I enjoyed this video so much. Keep up the great work!
"Because Jun's so tall I beep for him when he's in danger of bumping into something" 6:40 why is this so cute for me?
I like your stocking .. They are so cute ^.^
"Its that expensive, It's less than 1,000 dollars"
What? Thats expensive to me for sure.
MrChronickills haha nice things here in Japan can get REALLY expensive. Compared to similar quality products elsewhere, it probably looked pretty decently priced to Jun!
MrChronickills for a brand new wardrobe its pretty cheap
+Natasha Burdette it's*
The meatballs are actually made in Sweden and shipped to all the IKEAs in the world. Also, the japanese pronounciation of IKEA is just like in Swedish!
For most countries that's correct, but not all. IKEA's in Norway, Russia and the US don't get theirs from Sweden, but buy locally. We didn't get the horse meat version, that's how I remember.
I just now realized how cute it was when you 'beeped' for Jun aw!!
This was interesting! I'm from Sweden and as you probably know that's where IKEA is from. The way Jun pronounced IKEA is actually more close to the swedish way of pronouncing it. I really enjoy your channel, regards from Sweden 💖
Love Sweden. They just got vegan meatballs here in denmark (so good with jam). Sweden-envy from denmark. xoxo
I really don't know why, but IKEA feels somewhat like a store that would origin from Japan. I get that is' Swedish but still. No clue.
Yay, that's exactly how we pronounce IKEA in Sweden so that's awesome!
This was so much fun to watch! I love how enthusiastic you (Rachel) are and that you (everyone in the group) gladly wanted to try pronounce the Swedish names! The Japanese people are really good at pronouncing the swedish names and spelling them (like in order to teach the pronouncing). Creds to the one making the swedish translation
0:42 Shopping with my husband... in IKEA... in Japan...with KC and Jo Jo playing overhead? I'd combust from happiness!
Haha it's funny when they try pronouncing Swedish words XD
The Japanese way of saying IKEA is much closer to the real Swedish name than the English way of saying it.
EDIT: 2:41 That's the name of the city I grew up in Hønefoss! =D
I love IKEA! Rachel was so cute getting excited over everything, lol
incredible how international IKEA got, you see their furniture in tv shows and hollywood movies and you can have the same items as so many ppl around the globe
You guys are my heroes!!! I have never come out of IKEA with less than 100 dollars worth of stuff even if I only came in for a garlic press.
Your swedish isnt too bad actually, just need to fit the ÅÄÖ / åäö better
ludvig Berglund Yes it is. They're good attempt, though.
They mess up most of it, just as you'd expect of someone trying to pronounce words, in a foreign language.
Though they got "poäng" right and "vakna" was _almost_ right. Also the Japanese manage to pronounce IKEA, correctly.
+ludvig Berglund I was also very surprised. OF course they don't have a grasp of ÄÅÖ as they're totally unknown to them. And stressing was off, naturally :P
+ludvig Berglund Hey, do you know how to pronounce those letters correctly? I'm trying to learn swedish, but since I live in Arizona, USA, I can only learn it online, and I'm very unsure if I am pronouncing things.
+jmyetman1999 yes. since i am Swedish, naturally. For learning Swedish id recomennd reddit.com/r/TillSverige or rosetta stone program. People on reddit ar always glad to help. Anyway, the best way to learn is to listen. Its half the reason i am here, to listen to Japanese, and learn.
ludvig Berglund Thanks! I'm using "Duolingo.com" for learning, Swedish, as it's a really good free site. I was just worried that I was mispronouncing everything.
this 100% the same as the dutch ikea :P
I have those arm couches @7:14 both are yellow! XD
The see through chairs you pointed at are in fact VERY comfortable. they let u swing back and forth, they really are awesome. Recommend anyone who has the opportunity to try it.
The beeping thing is way too cute!! You guys are so cute together!!!
